Services Provided

The school counseling department at SHMS is a comprehensive developmental program that supports the school’s mission to empower and inspire all students to apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become creative problem solvers, to achieve personal success, and to contribute responsibly to our society.

In our approach to meeting state school counseling and career guidance standards, our counselors help coordinate programs such as orientation for new students, Career Fair, transition to high school. Academic support, testing and screening for academic placement. The counselors are available to consult with parents and teachers to find ways to enhance student success.

Individual Counseling

We meet with students for confidential solution-focused counseling to address academic, personal, and career concerns. Parents and teachers may refer students; buy many students come in on their own. By helping students to identify their own personal strengths, we work with students on learning how to make decisions, set goals, overcome obstacles, and cope with challenges.

Small Group Counseling

Currently, CenterStone Counseling Services offer small group counseling. Sessions are offered on an “as needed” basis and could include study skills, friendship, stress and anxiety, transitioning to a new school, and family situations. Parents, teachers, and students should speak to a counselor to inquire about available groups.

RTI Referrals

If your child is having difficulty succeeding in the classroom, the first thing to do is contact his or her teacher. It may be helpful to set up a conference with them to discuss concerns and talk about ways to address the problem.

Stop It app

Spring Hill Middle School offers the STOP!T mobile app to our students to anonymously report bullying, cyberbullying, inappropriate conduct, harassment, academic dishonesty or any unsafe situation. The app also provides a way for students who are facing a personal crisis to reach out for help.

The STOP!T app is a simple and fast tool that empowers students to become upstanders and keep the culture of our school kind, safe and welcoming.

Through the app, students can send photos, videos, screen shots anonymously to our administration. We can have two-way communication with students and the only way personally identifiable information will be accessible is if a student voluntarily includes it within the content of a report or message.

If you have any questions about the STOP!T app, please contact School Counselor . Here are FAQ.
