Attendance

The ultimate responsibility for student attendance lies with the student and the parent. Attendance, punctuality, and student participation are three keys to successful achievement in school.

ABSENCES: Absences are to be classified as either excused or unexcused. This is to be determined by the principal or their designee. Excused absences shall include:

  1. Personal illness;
  2. Illness of immediate family member;
  3. Death in the family;
  4. Extreme weather conditions;
  5. Religious observances; or
  6. Circumstances, which in the judgment of the principal create emergencies over which the student has no control.

*Preferably notes pertaining to illness would be issued by a physician.

Upon return to school, the student must present a noted from the parent or guardian for absences not later than three days following his/her return. Otherwise, the absences will be considered unexcused. The note should include the student’s full name, date of the absence(s), reason for absence, and a parent/guardian signature. After 12 parent notes for absences, only doctors’ notes will be accepted.
